About the studio

A small studio, kept small on purpose.

Dreamflower Studio is one pair of hands, a long worktable, and a garden that is bigger than it looks. We work with local growers and whatever the season offers, then let the flowers keep their own shape.

The studio began at a kitchen table in 2019, with a few buckets of flowers and a scale that was mostly used for flour. The first arrangements went to a neighbor's birthday, then a small wedding, then a shop down the road that wanted something fresh on the counter every Friday. We never meant to build a flower business. It grew the way a garden does: one season at a time.

Today the studio sits at the edge of Sebastopol, in a converted garage with a big sink, a walk-in cooler, and a table that is almost always covered in leaves. The door is usually open when the weather is good. There is a radio, a kettle, and a shelf of vases that have been collected from estate sales and friends who moved away.

We are less interested in a perfect arrangement than in one that looks like it belongs to the day.

How we work

Every project starts with a conversation about the place. A wedding in a redwood grove asks for different flowers than a dinner in a white room. A weekly arrangement for a bookstore should feel easy to live with, not like a display. We ask what the room is like, what time of day people will be there, and what colors already exist in the space.

Then we go back to the season. In late winter, that might mean flowering quince, bare branches, and the first narcissus. In August, dahlias and zinnias are everywhere, and the studio smells like a field. In December, we lean on evergreen, citrus, and dried seed heads. We do not try to make June happen in January. The work is better when the flowers are allowed to be themselves.

What we believe

Flowers should not be treated like decoration that arrives in a box. They are alive when they get here, and they keep changing after they are arranged. A stem that leans a little, a petal with a mark, a branch that refuses to sit straight — these are not mistakes. They are the reason we work with plants instead of something easier to control.

We also believe in keeping the scale small enough to pay attention. We take on a limited number of weddings each year, and we deliver weekly flowers to a handful of places we know well. That is enough. The rest of the week belongs to the garden, the studio, and the next season.

If you would like to talk about flowers for a particular day, write to hello@dreamflower.top. We answer slowly, but we answer.
